How We Can Help
Life Transitions
Life transitions are natural and begin following a string of losses. Loss of a role, of a person, of place through a move, of sense of self in the world including accidents, retirement, of physical abilities related to aging, financial strain or relocation. Talking helps to reframe the loss in a person’s life.
Bereavement and Loss
Significant loss (spouse, child, pet, anything important) can encompass a range of feelings, thoughts and behaviours and is experienced differently by each person depending on culture, background, gender, relationship to the deceased or loss. Emotions can be surprising in their strength and the length of time it takes to feel ‘normal’. Talking to a Senior Peer Counsellor assists in working through these emotions.
Loneliness or Isolation
Humans are naturally social and when we find ourselves feeling isolated this could be a warning sign that we are on the path toward having thoughts of not belonging, feelings of hopelessness or having the feeling of being rejected by others. Senior Peer Counsellors can assist in helping people think outside of themselves and assist a person in believing they are valuable and have something offer.
